An Adventure in Florianopolis

Britney, Erica, and I left Lagoa early in the morning by bus to meet up with Cristiana, one of my labmates at UFSC. It was pretty cloudy when we left, but it was looking to be the perfect day to tackle the trails at Barra da Lagoa.

By the time we reached Barra da Lagoa, the sun was shining and it was an unbelievably beautiful day. In the distance, we could see our goal: the mountain separating Lagoa from Praia Mole and the Atlantic Ocean.
We were making progress much quicker than we expected. The mountain was ridiculously steep, but after
sitting in lab all week it was the perfect way to spend a Saturday morning.

About halfway up the mountain, we started coming across these cool drawings on the rocks.
Nearly to the top of the mountain, we could see the beaches on the northern shore of the island in the distance,
along with the entirety of Barra da Lagoa.
Finally reached the top of the mountain, and the beauty was absolutely unbelievable. On the left, we could see
the span of the eastern beaches stretching out to the Atlantic Ocean. To the right, the various neighborhoods of
Lagoa and the mountains we cross to get to lab everyday. Time almost seemed to standstill, and I'm pretty sure we
could've stayed there for hours.
