We were graciously given the day off to rest and settle in after an entire day of flying, made even more tiring for me after hours of torturous small-talk with the stranger sitting next to me on the flight to Floripa from Sao Paulo. Needless to say, we instead used to day to familiarize ourselves with the surrounding area. Coincidentally, we ended up walking over to the Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina (Federal University of Santa Catarina; pictured above).
Pictured above is part of a mural located in the center of the university.
Most streets leading out of the main city slant upwards towards a hill (such as the one pictured above). There are also small neighborhoods located on the sides of these hills.
